KVH Industries Tapped by Raytheon to Provide Gyro Unit for Navy MK54 Torpedo

September 14 - KVH Industries Inc. has received a production order from Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems for the company's fiber optic gyro (FOG)-based TG-6000 precision inertial measurement unit (IMU). The TG-6000 will serve as a key component within the guidance system of the U.S. Navy's next-generation MK54 lightweight torpedoes.

The order is valued at $3.2 million. Delivery will begin later in 2005 and continue through 2007. If three follow-on options are exercised, the total order is potentially valued at more than $15.8 million between 2005 and 2009, KVH said. Read more.

LaBarge Wins Long-Term Contracts from Sikorsky for Black Hawk Helicopers

August 26 - LaBarge Inc. today announced that it has received long-term contracts from Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation to provide wiring harnesses, printed circuit card assemblies and sensor assemblies for various models of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters. Read more.

Teledyne Brown Tapped by Boeing for Future Combat Systems UAV Program

August 23 - Teledyne Technologies Inc. today announced that Teledyne Brown Engineering Inc. was one of three companies awarded a multi-million dollar contract by the Boeing Company for phase one of the Class III Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) development and demonstration under the U.S. Army's Future Combat Systems (FCS) program. Vought Aircraft Industries Delivers First Enhanced Wing for Global Hawk UAV

August 11, 2005 - Vought Aircraft Industries delivered its first enhanced wing to prime contractor Northrop Grumman July 21 for the U.S. Air Force RQ-4B Global Hawk unmanned air vehicle (UAV), the company said today. The wing was successfully tested to 100 percent limit load on May 20, the company said. Read more.

Raytheon Accelerates Production, Meets Army's Urgent Need for Thermal Weapon Sight Systems

August 10, 2005 - Raytheon Company has delivered its 25,000th AN/PAS-13 Thermal Weapon Sight (TWS) to U.S. Army officials from Program Executive Office Soldier as part of a production ramp-up to serve "urgent" needs in the Middle East, the company said today. Read more.

General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin on Schedule for Developing Army's WIN-T Communications Program

General Dynamics C4 Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, and Lockheed Martin today said they performed the preliminary design review on the Army's Warfighter Information Network-Tactical (WIN-T) program.

WIN-T is the Army's next-generation battlefield communications network. The program, currently estimated to be worth $7 billion through 2018, was awarded to a joint General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin team in September 2004. Read more.

DRS Receives $14 Million in New Orders for Apache Attack Helicopter Program

DRS Technologies Inc. today announced $14 million in new orders to manufacture the pilotage and targeting receiver assemblies for the Apache Arrowhead Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) System for U.S. Army AH-64 Apache attack helicopters.

The contract was received by DRS from Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control in Orlando, Fla., and represents Lot 2 production of the Lockheed Martin Arrowhead, the Army's Modernized Target Acquisition and Designation Sight/Pilot Night Vision Sensor (MTADS/PNVS) system.

The company's DRS Optronics unit in Palm Bay, Fla., will provide more than 95 receiver shipsets for the orders. Product deliveries are expected to begin in February 2006 and continue through January 2007. The company said it anticipates additional awards for the program.

Quantum Fuel Systems Technologies Worldwide today delivered new hybrid electric vehicles to the U.S. Army.

The two Quantum MP Hybrid vehicles were unveiled by the U.S. Army TARDEC's NAC (Tank-Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center's National Automotive Center) at the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) 2005 World Congress. Read more...
